A CMO’s Journey

Sherehan Ross

I understand that scrolling through every post I’ve ever written can be a daunting task to get to know me and my writing style. So, in this post, I’ll summarize some of my popular topics that dive into who I am, what I’ve accomplished, my ongoing journey, and what lies ahead.

Ready? Let’s dive into my personal brand!

First and foremost, I’m a Marketing Executive, a proud mom of two, and a wife, sister, daughter, and friend. (Check out my original post here)

Although I was born in Cairo, Egypt, and raised in Abu Dhabi, UAE, I now call Columbus, Ohio, my home. However, my worldly experiences also include a brief stint in Lyon, France, and sunny LA, California. (By the way, I’m fluent in Arabic and know just a tiny bit of French)

No, I don’t have an accent. Yes, technically, I’m “white” – if you’re curious, you can find a whole post about it here.

My name may not hold any particular meaning, but I was named after a remarkable individual (check out the link to learn more about her).

My corporate journey started officially at Nationwide, but my leadership qualities were nurtured long before, when I landed a summer internship at the age of 16, which paved the way for the professional I am today. (Find out more about it here)

I proudly consider myself a marketing generalist with a strong focus on digital. However, my experience spans across various domains, from print to PR, web design to SEO, and media to influencer marketing. With over 20 years of experience including Corporate America, agency, startups, and entrepreneurship, I’ve done it all and experienced so much. (Take a look here and here to explore more).

Motherhood has been a game-changer for me. It has reshaped and refined me, adding a whole new dimension to my identity. That’s why I believe it’s essential to include this life-altering experience in our LinkedIn profiles. (More about my journey herehere, and here)

I love being a marketer because it’s all about psychology. It means I get to be both an artist and a scientist, utilizing the best of both sides of my brain. (Discover more details herehere, and here)

If I weren’t a marketer, I’d likely be a makeup artist. Although I haven’t shared much about it, I’m a genuine beauty enthusiast and self-proclaimed makeup guru. Despite not working in the industry, I possess a deep understanding of it.

As an early adopter, I’m always excited about emerging technologies. While I may not have the professional expertise, my admiration and enthusiasm for these advancements are authentic.

Food holds a special place in my heart. I appreciate good cuisine and the joy it brings.

I’m deeply passionate about various causes, including female empowerment, diversity, mental health, environmental preservation, animal welfare, and child welfare. You can find plenty of posts discussing these topics, some examples are herehere, and here.

What do I want? I aspire to continue to have a seat at the table, but not just any table. I have my non-negotiables that guide me in seeking meaningful opportunities. (Explore my thoughts herehere, and here)

If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments or send me a direct message. I’m here to engage and connect with all of you.
